Broken Sword

With this piece I wanted to showcase my interest in stylized shapes and textures by creating a fantasy style broadsword with a mixture of PBR and handpainting when it comes to the textures and materials. I chose to make a broken blade for the purpose of including some animation along with some vfx effects to add to the feeling of a magic infused broken sword. I chose to rig and animate the blade in maya while the magic effect was animated in Marmoset Toolbag 3. A Marmoset viewer can be found at the bottom of the page.

This was created over the course of about 3 weeks half time starting with modelling in maya, highpoly creation in Zbrush, baking and texturing in Substance painter and then lit and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3.

Animations are done using alpha textures made in photoshop then animated in marmorset toolbag 3 by panning the textures.
